We are half way through the quarter! If you forgot to bring your yellow Progress Report home to get signed, please print this link, go over your grades with your parents, and turn it in on Monday.
Well I think it is safe to say that Tall Oaks was a success!! We have all heard great feedback on the trip and a number of the students have said they want to go back...THIS YEAR!! I'd like to give a shout out to Peggy Kelly for doing the bulk of the organization work. She took the time to contact Tall Oaks from the very beginning and we all thought the day went wonderfully! Below is a picture of some members of the Seton house and Siena house working together to get everyone on the large teeter-totter. It took a few tries but they did get it! This picture is one we took before we left school of the Seton House. Go Eagles! Again, it was a great trip and we are already looking forward to going back! Have a great rest of the week! Heads up that 7th and 8th grade students are bringing $7 to get their co py of To Kill a Mockingbird a nd The Outsiders for the quarter. We are all using the same version, but if you have a copy of the book your child needs at home and you're OK with them writing in it, that's OK too! Please talk to me if money is an issue. Students will be allowed to write in their books and keep them after we finish the unit, which will take us into March. If you would like to read along, I have extra used copies you can borrow. Parents who have done this often say it creates great discussion with their son or daughter! We're excited to get started with both novels. We also will be doing some SCOPE magazine and state assessment test prep too. We will be doing some pre-reading activities and looking at the different time periods that the books are set in. 7th graders will be looking at the 1960s, and 8th graders will be looking at the 1930s. Both are wonderful books. ...

As we end 2nd quarter, keep in mind the following changes: • Late Membean sessions will have a penalty • Any session that has a score lower than 50% will not count, and the student will need to do it over in order for it to be recorded on the gradebook • Sessions done on cell phones, may or may not work. DO NOT DO MEMBEAN SESSIONS ON A CELL PHONE . • Membean assignments run from Tuesday to Tuesday, and should be two separate 15 minute sessions a week. (Students have the entire weekend, plus Monday to complete the weekly assignment.) What to Look Forward to in 3 rd Quarter Writing • Correct & Revise articles from Teen Magazines--first 2 weeks back from Winter break; putting closure to this project will include several reflection processes as well as a celebration,...
