Kahoot

A student emailed me to post the Kahoot that we played today. If you're interested, here it is! https://play.kahoot.it/#/?quizId=20ca6fab-b7cb-461d-a0c3-3a295eef2b25

Tear-able Puns

Image
8th graders enjoyed making tear-able puns for the hallway today. We had a good chuckle over a few of them! Here they are with their cheesiest faces.  Both 7th and 8th graders have their test tomorrow. We reviewed in class today with a Kahoot.

Personal Metaphors

I loved reading the 7th grade's personal metaphors. They creatively described why they are like another object or animal. Great job!

Class Update

Students have been gearing up for their figurative language test next week, which will happen on Wednesday, Sept. 28th for both 7th and 8th grades. They have all of their study materials after today. Both grades are also working on their Bag a Book project this week. I always love seeing what they come up with! 8th graders worked hard -- and had fun -- with their allusions stories! They were so excited to share.  Seventh graders found figurative language outside. One group had peace and quiet, mostly writing about the caterpillars and geese. The other group observed kindergarten recess, so their sentences had a lot more action! Both groups did a really nice job.

Update

We've been busy this week in English class! Seventh grade students are starting to work with our figurative language terms. We had fun playing allusion Bingo the past two days! They know that they should be studying their words for a test on figurative language that we will have in a couple weeks. Eighth graders have also been working on figurative language in reading, and they will have a test in several weeks too. In writing, we have been focusing on subjects and verbs and how to make quality sentences with only two strong words. They worked so hard writing their two-word sentence prompts. The finished products were awesome! Allusions bingo Trying to guess the clue Working on our two-word sentence prompts Finished products! Here are some great finished prompts:
