Class Update

Image
7th graders spent the day writing figurative language outside. Some of the locations they chose to write cracked me up!  8th graders were working with one of our new figurative language words this year, assonance, and even checked out some Shakespeare. They were up to the challenge!  Both grades will have their test on figurative language next Thursday.  Enjoy the long weekend! Hopefully the students can find some time to read.  Very impressive balance! Students writing in the rosary garden 8th graders hard at work learning about assonance.

Brown Bottle Baskets

The Brown Bottle Basket committee is in need of your help! They are starting to collect donations of $$ and items, and no donation is too big or small.  Donations sent in should be addressed to either Mrs. Dreiling, Miss Jakuboski, or Mrs. Meidinger. More information is in the newsletter every week!  • Seventh Grade – KC Royals • Eighth Grade – Monetary donations for “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”. This basket is new this year. It will have a variety of highly desirable items such as Kendra Scott, Vera Bradley, Vineyard Vines, Sephora, Starbucks, etc. Items are all due by the 27 th of October

Allusions

7th graders are working on allusions! We had fun teaching each other and playing a Kahoot. We'll continue to work on figurative language until our test next Thursday.

ELA Update

Image
One student is working on a never-ending comic!  We finished MAPS this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Eighth graders worked on writing their About the Authors and typed them up today. We also sent our veteran's letters off. We've also been working on subjects and verbs and will take a quiz next week. The students are showing great growth! Next week, in both 7th and 8th grade, we'll be working on figurative language. We started with a pre-test and will continue with notes. There will be a test in three weeks. 8th graders will also be working on a digital portfolio that we're creating this year and complete their first Article of the Week. Have a great weekend!

House Competition

Image
We had a blast today at House! Each of the kids had one puzzle piece and had to race back and forth and piece together their house's puzzle. We had many students turn in service sheets too. It's exciting to see their enthusiasm!
