ELA Update

Students and parents, As we head into the first week of May, we have our Buy One Get One Free book fair.  Summer is a great time to encourage students to read, and this is a great way to get great books in their hands! We'll be sending flyers home this week and taking a preview day on Tuesday for the students to look around. In Miss Rajewski's homeroom, the students play "bingo" with their PBS cards. On Thursday, they voted to make a giant bingo board for the month of May. Every time they get 5 stars, they get to choose the number they think will win them the prize. Any students who bring in a prize or prizes for the class drawing will automatically get a name on the board. We have 150 spots on the board. That's 750 stars! 8th Grade Civil War Book

The 8th Graders will be creating an ABC Book of the Civil War.  Students will research topics of the Civil War and create a book to represent major events and people of the war.  Students were given rubrics today; we will have a completion check in next week.  The current due date is Friday May 2nd.  Students should go to the "Links" tab on this blog for sites to use for research.

Last chance for 8th grade magazine

8th grade families,  Happy Easter! Just a reminder that the 8 th grade magazine will be on sale this weekend at Brown Bottle. Today I received a sample of the final product from the printer, and it looks awesome! The magazine title was selected by the students ( This is Us) , and 50 students chose to contribute. The proceeds from the magazine benefit Sacred Heart. I have had several of you send in money with your children because you will not be able to attend the auction. If you are not able to attend but would still like a magazine, please send me your $20 cash or check (made out to Sacred Heart) this week. If you want to keep your purchase of the magazine a secret from your child because you’re planning to purchase as a gift, let me know that too. Thanks! Feel free to email me (sarah.rajewski@shoj.org )  with any questions. Thanks,  Miss R.
