Do you need extra math help?

If you are stuck on a homework problem, go to  https://www.khanacademy.org/ .  On Kahn Academy, you can navigate through different lessons.  Simply type the topic we are working on in the search engine, such as, "adding integers" or, "solving for the y-intercept". If you'd like extra math practice,  http://www.ixl.com/  is very helpful.  Most topics taught in class are going to be found under "Seventh", "Eighth", "Algebra", or "Geometry".  The only difficult part is that typing in answers to math problems is sometimes difficult.  For example, the answer "23/4" is completely different than "2 3/4".  After some practice, you'll be an expert! Happy practicing!  Remember to make good choices:) Miss V

First week!

What a GREAT, HOT  first week of school! It was so nice to see all of the students and their smiling faces. While I know they enjoy summer break, I think they secretly enjoy coming back to school just as much! In Science I began introducing the 7th and 8th graders to Interactive Notebooks. There is quite a bit of vocabulary in Science and it can often be difficult to retain. I am hopeful that with these notebooks, the students will be able to learn the vocabulary and retain their meaning and importance in Science. The 8th graders enjoyed taking pictures for the "Lab Safety" wall. Below is a picture of a few of the 8th graders showing us that it is NOT safe to sneak up on people in the lab!! We also spent some time on Friday participating in House activities. Below is a picture of a few members in my House (Seton) as they work together to decorate their poster paper showing Seton pride! Next week, both 7th and 8th grade will begin the Language of Science unit. This

Welcome Back/ Upcoming field trips.

Welcome back, middle school families!  Today went very quickly, and it was such a joy to see all the students' positive attitudes as we start a new year.  Please refer to this blog to keep up to date with Middle School happenings! Today we sent a permission slip home with your child(ren) for our upcoming field trip to Tall Oaks on September 6- a challenge course that students will participate in with their Houses.  See the permission slip for more information.  We'd love to have the permission slips, volunteer forms, and money in by Friday, August 23.  8th Grade parents, mark your calendars for the 8th Grade Pro-Life Forum at Church of the Nativity on Wednesday, October 16 from 9:30-11am.  We will need parent drivers and volunteers to attend with the 8th grade students. The permission slips will be sent home in the next couple weeks.
