Calendar Update/Upcoming Due Dates

 There is a mistake on the calendar regarding the end of 1st quarter.  It does not end Oct. 9th as stated in the calendar.  It ends Oct. 17th!  However, for book talks because the date has been set since August, the last day to book talk will still be next Thursday, Oct. 9. We will use the extra week to get a jump start on reading for the second quarter. Thanks! 

Next week, 8th graders will have their Patriotism Essay due Monday. Students will have a Membean quiz at school on Wednesday, and I will be checking their notebooks. Any extra credit for the Membean words can now be turned in Oct. 16th with the change in the end of quarter. 

 After the review day and the test, we will be working on close reading next week with our SCOPE Scholastic Magazine. It features wonderful literature and informational text!

7th Grade Social Studies

7th Grade Social Studies 7th Grade was given a project outline/requirements/instructions in class today.  This project will take the place of a written exam over chapter 3.  Students will be responsible for creating a written and oral presentation over a location they have chosen.  Students will need to complete research over the weekend so they are prepared to work in class Monday.  A helpful website has been posted under Social Studies Links for this project.    All projects will be due Thursday, Nov. 7th.   The oral presentations will take place in class Thursday and Friday; students are encouraged to have props and be creative!

Quarter 2 projects

Students received their quarter two projects today. We will work with these as we work through our reading this quarter.
