Math Update/ Summer Math Program

As Fourth Quarter begins, I am proud to announce that both 7th and 8th graders will meet all of the objectives expected for students across the nation at the same level!  While we finish up probability and statistics units in both grades, we will review for the State Assessments (taken the week of April 7- get lots of rest and eat a great breakfast!).  After assessments we will continue reviewing concepts covered throughout the year, especially the units from first semester.  When students have shown mastery (again) in these skills, we will start preparing for next year!  My hope is that the 7th grade will start learning 8th grade material, and 8th grade will continue preparing for high school.  I hope this builds their confidence while they make the big transition.  

 *Many parents have asked about summer programs and tutoring.  I plan on having a "Math Camp" for Middle School Students and students entering high school in the summer.  This way, students get to review and enter next school year ahead of the game.  More info about these opportunities will be available when I get more info about times and locations.  I appreciate your interest and your patience!

The 7th and 8th grade had the chance to hear from some of our students from last year! We talked a lot about being ready for high school and what skills would be helpful for our middle schoolers, regardless of what high school they choose. 7th Grade Social Studies

7th Grade Social Studies 7th Grade was given a project outline/requirements/instructions in class today.  This project will take the place of a written exam over chapter 3.  Students will be responsible for creating a written and oral presentation over a location they have chosen.  Students will need to complete research over the weekend so they are prepared to work in class Monday.  A helpful website has been posted under Social Studies Links for this project.    All projects will be due Thursday, Nov. 7th.   The oral presentations will take place in class Thursday and Friday; students are encouraged to have props and be creative!

Quarter 2 projects

Students received their quarter two projects today. We will work with these as we work through our reading this quarter.
