Upcoming quarter

8th graders are working on editing a short excerpt of the novels they wrote last quarter. They've been so creative thus far, and I look forward to reading the finished products! After we finish our peer and self-editing, we will begin reading To Kill a Mockingbird, which is one of my favorites. It's exciting to watch the book "click" as we progress through it each year! 

7th graders are working on SCOPE magazine right now. They reflected on their MAPS data, and as a grade, we want to work on informational text, which is perfect for SCOPE! After we finish SCOPE, we will start The Outsiders, which the students really enjoy. 

I have the novels for the students, so they do not need to go and find one. 

Looking forward to a great quarter!

The 7th and 8th grade had the chance to hear from some of our students from last year! We talked a lot about being ready for high school and what skills would be helpful for our middle schoolers, regardless of what high school they choose. 7th Grade Social Studies

7th Grade Social Studies 7th Grade was given a project outline/requirements/instructions in class today.  This project will take the place of a written exam over chapter 3.  Students will be responsible for creating a written and oral presentation over a location they have chosen.  Students will need to complete research over the weekend so they are prepared to work in class Monday.  A helpful website has been posted under Social Studies Links for this project.    All projects will be due Thursday, Nov. 7th.   The oral presentations will take place in class Thursday and Friday; students are encouraged to have props and be creative!

Quarter 2 projects

Students received their quarter two projects today. We will work with these as we work through our reading this quarter.
