Brown Bottle Baskets

The Brown Bottle Gift Basket Committee is in need of your support. We have received many items, but we are still in need of much more.  A couple things to know: 
·         Donations are due by the 27th.
·         Donations may be brought up on the 26th during parent/teacher conferences and can either be left at the front office or with the classroom teacher. Items should be marked with the grade it is for.
·         Donations may still be dropped off on the 27th, but dropped off at the church office as the school office will be closed.
·         Items brought in after the 27th will not be included as the baskets will already be wrapped and ready and we are unable to open them back up.
·         A link has also been set up for families to donate money to rather than send in: https://shoj.wufoo.com/forms/z1rcf3ak0c5ht75/


Your help is GREATLY appreciated!  Baskets will be put together the weekend of October 28th and 29th and ready for display the week of October 30th.

Faith Families

We're excited for faith families tomorrow! The 8th graders are doing a wonderful job leading. The 7th graders have also been great role models for the first grade buddies in Mass. They also had the chance to help the first graders to make their prayer books. It surprised them to remember that they once practiced saying the Hail Mary, which now comes so easily. Your student will be bringing home information about a service project that we are participating in as faith families. One faith family plays a game to get to know each other.  Each eighth grader helps lead about ten students.  Check out those neon prayer books!    Almost done!  Seventh graders and first graders hard at work.

Class Update

Last week, 8th graders worked on compound sentences. They made life-sized FANBOYS (conjunctions: For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So), which we're finishing up this week. They will have a test in a couple weeks. We also read "The Tell-Tale Heart," and Mrs. Kelly dressed up as Edgar Allan Poe on the same day! This week, we have started writing our National Novel Writing Month project, where students are trying to write a word-count goal they set for themselves. We're also finishing our read aloud, Fish , and tying in some SCOPE nonfiction text about refugees and child labor laws throughout the world. We will be starting Christmas Carol next week!  7th graders finished up a month of SCOPE magazine today. I loved seeing their play presentations last Friday. Their costumes were creative!
