I loved reading the 7th grade's personal metaphors. They creatively described why they are like another object or animal. Great job!

Membean is a critically acclaimed vocabulary program that will enable your student to acquire an advanced vocabulary which will aide his or her success both in academics, and future job career choices. As we end 2nd quarter, keep in mind the following changes: • Late Membean sessions will have a penalty • Any session that has a score lower than 50% will not count, and the student will need to do it over in order for it to be recorded on the gradebook • Sessions done on cell phones, may or may not work. Snapshots Unit: Narrative Reflection

Dear 8 th -grade families, This week students are looking at one of the purposes of writing: to express ourselves and reflect on life. One of the most powerful tools for expression of memories are photographs. Over this week and next week, we will be creating a narrative and descriptive poem with an accompanying video. Today we talked about the videos and the expectations, which we will continue to cover over the next week. We’ll work with the poems starting tomorrow. Students will have some time in the lab to work at school, but some of the work will be done at home. We are working to create Animoto videos, which will be presented to the class. If you do not have any digital photos, I have told the student to let me know and we will work together. Here is an example of the video I made of my life.   Animoto accounts are private. Tall Oaks!

Well I think it is safe to say that Tall Oaks was a success!! We have all heard great feedback on the trip and a number of the students have said they want to go back...THIS YEAR!! I'd like to give a shout out to Peggy Kelly for doing the bulk of the organization work. She took the time to contact Tall Oaks from the very beginning and we all thought the day went wonderfully! Below is a picture of some members of the Seton house and Siena house working together to get everyone on the large teeter-totter. It took a few tries but they did get it! This picture is one we took before we left school of the Seton House. Go Eagles! Again, it was a great trip and we are already looking forward to going back! Have a great rest of the week!
